Surfing the web, we came across these beautiful lamps that are stripped away from any frills. They are a new design by Alessandro Zambelli for a company by the name .exnovo. He calls the collection 'Afillia', a name borrowed from the botanic world. AFILLIA means leafless, though not lifeless.
The AFILLIA range of six models consists of three suspension and three table lamps. The base or socket ring is made of Swiss pine, a premium wood from the Alto Adige mountains, hand-crafted according to the region’s ancient traditions. The wood fitting locks on to a light diffuser in polyamide (also known as nylon fibre), sintered by professional 3D printing.
The centrepiece of each AFILLIA lamp is clearly the beautiful made diffuser. It's delicate, lace-like patterns with their geometrical pinholes give rise to two-dimensional origami in thin, curvaceous spirals.
