The arcing floor lamp has been a fixture of contemporary spaces that's never completely out of the picture. In recent years we've see many successful editions to this theme. It probably was Achille Castiglioni who created a solution for the frustrating task of illuminating dining tables in which ceiling electrical outputs were nowhere close to the centre of the table. In 1962, Italian label Flos first introduced his iconic lamp Arco. Designer Castiglioni proved he created a beautiful solution, and thereby giving birth to a whole new type of floor lamps. Arcing floor lamps provide a suspended source of illumination for areas that may not be conducive for a pendant. The iconic arc has since been remade, rethought and revisited by designers and architects throughout the years, developing the concept of the arcing floor lamp into something new and something special with each new transformation.
