's new family of luminaires GUISE evolved from exploration the relationship between light and transparency.
Various materials were tested for their ability to internally reflect LED light, with glass showing the best results. This effect is called TIR (total internal reflection). The GUISE collection is based on that very principle where light remains invisible until it reaches an edge or surface.
The starting point of the GUISE collection was the wall mounted disk, which creates a halo of light as it diffuses from the edges of the disk. The wall functions as the reflector. For the tubular versions of the collection, the light travels through the glass and emanates when it reaches the patterns engraved into the glass cylinder.
In all cases, the original light source is a slim row of LEDs recessed into a slit and remains invisible as the luminaire seems to float in space like a bright, radiant body.
The design is by the talented Stefan Diez, together with Jonathan Mauloubier, Joel Hoff and Tobias Lugmeier.
