A postponed trip to Japan, caused by the dramatic nuclear disaster in Fukushima in 2011, was the inspiration for Johan Lindstén to design the MELTDOWN. The nuclear disaster is reflected in the name and the shape of the lamp. The light bulb seems to melt to the bottom part of the glass.
Johan Lindstén is a Swedisch designer born in 1981. He has his own studio, Lindstén Form Studio since 2008. In 2103 he designed the MELTDOWN suspension lamp for CAPPELLINI. New in 2014 are the floor and table lamps. The characteristic spherical diffusers are made from glass. Mouth blown into a mold. The bulb-holder, wiring and ceiling fixing comes in black.
The glass diffusers are available in six different colors. Dove grey, rose, tobacco, light blue, amethyst and amber. Everybody can make their own color combination for the lamp. In this way you can give your own twist to it. A combination of colors or just one color.. this possibility makes the lamp extra special.
