OMI by Naomi Paul

At first glance, OMI pendants look something your grandma might have produced when she overdid a winter scarf. But with their vibrant colors, gracious forms, and interesting texture we think these OMI lamps are cool and prove that elegant design and sustainability can go hand-in-hand. Working with surplus material from the fashion industry (mostly mercerized cotton and silk), British textile and product designer Naomi Paul has created a stunning collection of suspended lamps that have a sense of both luxury and environmental awareness. Born of German and English descent, Naomi grew up on a farm in Sussex. After studying Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins she then went on to complete a degree in Constructed Textile Design at Chelsea college of Art and design, graduating in 2006. The OMI lamps are, Naomi’s own words, “handcrafted minimal flat pack pendants that evolved from the desire to create lighting that is timeless, playful and quietly opulent.” Handcrafted using traditional crochet techniques and outfitted with Plumen low-energy light bulbs, the light fixtures emit a soft glow that accentuates the elegant forms and radiant colors of the finely woven yarn. The Omi pendants are available in a number of shapes and limited edition colors that change with the seasons. [gallery order="DESC" columns="4" orderby="title"]
