Trapeze @ Oblure
Trapeze is a real performer, an aerialist combining elegance and style. Fixed in a single stance with endless possibilities. The individual performance can be extended to a group by connecting the lamp with one, two or more. The construction allows the user to combine uplight and downlight at the same time. The possibilities are plentiful. The half-domed fixture allows each side to rotate 360 degrees, giving the possibility of only uplight, only downlight, half up and half down, and everything in between. Remarkably, this not only does changes how the light is cast, it also changes the look of the fixture. In the spirit of acrobat and trapezes, this flexible pendant allows you to move the components around for endless lighting possibilities. If a single Trapeze isn’t enough, Oblure designed a system that allows you to connect multiple pendants to create a larger fixture. TRAPEZE is a design by Jette Scheib (Germany). Scheib studied Industrial Design at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin. She is inspired by nature and organic shapes, but also by people and everyday life. Scheib loves to observe her surroundings, and study objects, people, people interacting with objects and each other. She collects esthetic and technical information and then it falls into place. Driven by curiosity, intuition and the urge to create something that has value and character, she adds a new meaning or dimension to a practical object. Scheib drew upon inspiration from childhood visits to the circus when designing the Trapeze pendant for Swedish brand Oblure. Trapeze was her favourite act to watch as they swung their bodies around, interacting with other acrobats as well as the public. The new brand Oblure is the combination of 'object' and 'allure', which form the core of the brand – to make alluring objects. The brand is established in Gothenburg, Sweden. They produce, market and sell lighting products and objects in designed by internationally known designers. Oblure's vision is to present products with an abundance of character to a worldwide community of design lovers. Their goal is to create uncommon objects that fascinate and amaze the observer. Oblure aims to lead the way forward with innovations and original products. Oblure was born from the desire to preserve the designers feeling for the object in the transformation from sketch to drawing and from drawing to the final product. Design is about interplay between form and function. When well balanced, design will result in a strong feeling and sometimes even love for objects.
