The latest novelty of Foscarini is called YOKO. It was presented during the Salone del Mobile at Euroluce Milan 2013. YOKO is a soap bubble-like table lamp. It look bowith A hidden technology, in fact: Yoko by Foscarini is the result of endless tests. The material of the diffuser is a bubble of transparent synthetic material – is-PMMA polymethylmethacrylate, obtained with the technique of blow molding. The light is soft and spreads in the room in a soft way. It was designed by the renowned designers Anderssen & Voll. The result is a perfect intersection, simple and lightweight, which was inspired by the image of a bubble in tension that settles on the light source. The essential Scandinavian style is underlined by the choice of different colours, light and just mentioned, reminiscent of the northern light and tinged with subtle nuances and shades the upper body. YOKO was born and takes shape thanks to a long and accurate materials research and on form, developed thanks to countless tests played on millimeter, with attention paid to the curvature of the lines. Extremely sophisticated technology, plays a key role but remains hidden, concealed by thin line and the perfection of balance between the two volumes. The development of the original concept, transferred with great skill in an advanced process of industrialization based on the technique of blown molding and on the choice of a material such as polymethyl methacrylate -made it possible to create an object of immediate reading and strong personality.
