Foscarini celebrates 30 years Lumiere
When Foscarini launched LUMIERE thirty years ago, they were not aware that this table lamp would grow into an icon. This timeless model has a strong identity and blends in to many types of interiors that widely differ in style and taste. To celebrate its 30th birthday, Foscarini presents two new versions, Lumiere Bulles and Lumiere Pastilles, produced in a special edition of 1.100 pieces, each numbered and autographed by the creator of LUMIERE: the renown Italian architect Rodolfo Dordoni. When LUMIERE was launched in 1990, it was the concrete evidence of Foscarini's design philosophy and Rodolfo Dordoni's vision: harmony between tradition and innovation, between decoration and technique. In LUMIERE, the juxtaposition of two different materials such as glass and metal is not borderline, but a relationship, and opposites - emotion and technique - manage to meet. Two new finishes enrich the LUMIERE white blown glass diffuser: in the 'Pastilles' version, the hand-blowing of the incandescent vitreous paste inside a dedicated diamond-shaped mould gives the glass a tactile three-dimensionality. In the 'Bulles' version, countless little air bubbles remain trapped between the layers of glass, thanks to a mould fitted with spikes. Both versions feature a champagne coloured metal base, this finish looks especially fine with these glasses.     Produced in a special edition, each numbered and autographed, Lumiere Bulles and Lumiere Pastilles come in a special box with dedicated graphics and therefore is a perfect gift idea for design lovers. Each component of the lamp is protected by a cotton bag, making the packaging precious too, while the personalized plate placed on the cable with Rodolfo Dordoni's signature and progressive serial number makes each lamp a unique piece.
