Pedretti, Alessandro

Alessandro Pedretti was born in Milan in 1966, where he graduated in architecture at the Polytechnic in 1992. In the same year he won the first prize in the “Osram” international competition for the designing of an innovative energy-saving lighting device. From 1993 to 1996 he lived and worked in Paris, where he collaborated with the architecture and design studio of Pierangelo Caramia. From 1997 to 1999, in Milan, Pedretti worked with Prospero Rasulo. Beginning from 1996, he designed products in the fields of furniture for the office environment, lighting and urban furnishing for Italian and foreign companies. His products in production have been selected in the following exhibitions: “Under 35″ ADI 1997, Milan, Spazio OPOS 1997, Milan, Neotu Gallery 1997, Paris, Premio MACEF 1997, Milan, Grandesign 2000, Milan, If Gute Form award, Hanover 2000, Selection for the Compasso d’Oro 2003, DigitalPrint Abet 2003. Since 1998 he has partnered Italo Rota, with whom he has created architecture and interior design projects including: the interiors of the new “single pole” Deutsche Bank headquarters for Italy at La Bicocca, urban objects for new fast public transport lines in Brescia and Verona, interiors and fittings and furnishings for public, commercial and exhibition spaces in Italy and abroad. He has handled the interior design for the project of the 20th century Museum at L’Arengario in Milan and the Casino in Lugano. He is a consultant for design magazines, galleries and institutions on the research, evaluation and display of industrial design objects with decorative and applied arts bodies, galleries and museums worldwide. He teaches Project Methodology at the New Academy in Milan, and is visiting professor at the University of Industrial Design in Milan, in Venice and at the Domus Academy in Milan.
